I’m tangled up in Yosemite and
the need to write a blog.
The pictures need fixing
but the software’s just a dog.
Oh, what a tangled web we weave when
first we try to edit photos, so
we can reduce the file size and
watermark each photo so
we can use them on our blog and
download an update to the Nikon software and
then download OSX Yosemite because
the upgrade won’t work otherwise and
Yosemite won’t install because
there is not enough disk space and
you carefully review the trash folder and
decide it’s ok to Empty it, but don’t see
that the setting is set to Empty Securely, so
it takes forever, so
you read the internet and
smack your forehead and
slide over to
cancel the Secure Empty, then
wait forever for it to
finish “stopping”, then
change the setting and
start over, then
you can’t find the previously downloaded OSX package, so
you start the download again, and then
you find it so,
you stop the download and
start the upgrade process and then
you wait with bated breath for Yosemite to do it’s thing and
hope that the install goes well.
you watch as it restarts for
the second time in 20 minutes and
you watch the progress bar as you
watch a sleeping baby and
wonder ‘Is it breathing?’ or,
in this case, ‘is it moving?’, then
you see the screen change colours, and
the progress bar speeds up, to bring up
the LOGIN SCREEN, where
you select your non admin account, and
enter your password, then
skip the silly iCloud prompt and
there is Half Dome on the monitor and
Mont St Michel on the laptop screen, but
everything seems slower already, but
it’s connected to the network and
the font looks much smaller, but
it’s connected to both the NASs and
Thunderbird still works,
and so does Instantbird,
here’s the important thing;
ALL MY FILES SEEM TO BE INTACT!
As long as it’s all intact, the rest of it can wait! Ugh. Gotta love all this, huh?
Yeah, it’s still asking me to update stuff as I open up applications.. so maybe in a weeks time we’ll be stable!
