Well, November is almost here. This means that NaNoWriMo is almost here.
November is the month designated National Novel Writing Month. A purely voluntary challenge to onseself. Write down 50,000 words, at least, in the 30 days of the month. There is an online community to act as cheerleaders, mentors and unpaid team members.
Last year, 2018, was the first time I attempted this. And thus, I put down 71,379 words of One Bluish Egg. Now, this is nowhere near complete. There are at least 3 or 4 chapters missing and significant editing remains ahead. However, the aim of NaNoWriMo isn’t to put down a finished product, but to put down a first rough draft. To that end, I was successful.
As proof, I present my certificate. I did win!
This year I’ve signed up again. Let’s see if I can get another certificate!
I feel this is going to be much harder!
I shall post progress reports from time to time!
Wow! I’m totally impressed. I’ve neither participated in nor followed this novel-writing challenge before, so I’ll be interested in your experience with it–and for the second time round, no less. All the very best. Josna
Thanks, Josna! Yeah, even I was surprised that I managed it last year! All these years, I used to hear people talk about it and I felt I just wasn’t the type.. 🙂
Let’s see where it goes this year!
