Once upon a time there lived an IT guy. He was young, some say he was good-looking. He loved and was loved by a young IT gal. They loved in a small flat on the ground floor of a quiet neighborhood of Calcutta. He was not quite tall and not...Continue reading→
Bric a brac
This page is the dumpster, the cavernous, faceless, identity-less posts that cannot be categorized easily into the other categories. They're not quite Travel, Food or Memoirs. They're not about Writing, they're certainly not Poetry or Fiction. Some are opinions pieces and right before I created this page they were tagged as "Opinion". However, not all of these are strictly opinions. Some are mere observations, others rants.
Anyway, here are all of those tired, unwashed and careworn denizens of this blog. I have to say some of these are not bad posts, it's just that they're like me; hard to define, or one could say, alphabetize, analyze, arrange, assort, brand, break down, catalogue, class, codify, distinguish, docket, file, grade, group, index, label, match, order, organize, peg, pigeonhole, regiment, segregate, sort, systematize, tabulate, tag, ticket, type, typecast. You get the general idea, right?
That's not to say I haven't tried categorising them. Just don't blame me if the category doesn't quite fit the slot..... In other words, I am blameless in this matter.
Roti Shapes and the Brain
So the question asked is this “Do round rotis taste better than non-round ones?”. And that is an interesting, very interesting, question. It brings to the fore many concepts that we possibly take for granted, but perhaps should review more often. So let’s take a look at the question and...Continue reading→
The Return of Fish
It’s Thursday and time for some more work with mirrors and and smoke, maybe some steam. For steam is healthy they say. You have saunas where your toxins become toxouts and steam irons where the wrinkles in your clothes become more becoming creases. Remember to
My Birthmonth Festival
August is almost upon us. August brings with it the day the body that owns the authors on this blog was born. Yessirreee, The SloMan, The LastWord, LeggieLefty and the PeevedPunjabi were born in August. In order to celebrate, I am offering you an easy way to wish me well....Continue reading→
Green Grass Blues
They tell me grass is greener on the other side. Leaving aside the question of who “they” are, the motion before us is “The Grass is Greener on the Other Side”. I propose now to review this from both sides of the keyboard. Yes, there is another side, the dark...Continue reading→
Sun-dried Underwear
It’s a fact of life that as life goes on we change, we discover new things, try new food items and generally progress from sundried plums with tangy rock salt to gourmet sundried tomatoes. At this point you are wondering, aren’t you, why this post is tagged “travel”? Well, maybe...Continue reading→
Salman Khan
The SloMan fought off the PeevedPunjabi’s strident requests to write about this stupid actor and his trial for killing someone while driving drunk. Instead, it was given to Unclejee to write about this. Read that post here: https://unclejee.wordpress.com/2015/05/06/salman-khan/ Do let Unclejee know what you think, especially if you’re a Salman...Continue reading→
Happy Fifth Anniversary!
Today is, according to WordPress, and WordPress should know, the exact day 5 years ago when The SloMan signed up at WordPress and stared at the screen thinking “What is this blog thing and how do you go about blogging?” Since that day, 5 years ago, The SloMan has seen...Continue reading→
The Big O and I
The Big O. It’s probably the most used and most misunderstood term. It’s not just misunderstood, it is one of the leading causes of misunderstandings. At the very outset, I must confess that I have so far failed to fully comprehend the nuances of the O and it’s usage. O...Continue reading→
Wood and Wouldbe Woodworker
It is immediately a fact that I have some strengths and some weaknesses. Indeed, I am normal, like everyone else and despite what you may privately or not so privately think; or say, in the case of some of my ruder, more direct friends. Amongst my strengths is, of course,...Continue reading→
