She Seeks
She Seeks is the fifth book of short stories in the “She” series. Written by women around the world from various backgrounds, this book explores the methods people use to “navigate a complex world”.
A desire to revisit the past, or nostalgia, is one aspect of this discovery process. Another is the investigation of a problem and the various solutions available, maybe even gain some self-realization for future growth and capabilities.
The SHE project’s main aim is to provide a creative platform for women’s voices and their reflections from daily lives. None of the authors come from a ‘purely literary’ background – and yet, as scientists, bankers, professors, engineers, managers and homemakers, they all have a story to share.

The Nostalgic Garden – by Ekta Sharma
Nostalgia is the essence of this story.
This story starts with a statement, rather like the premise of an essay. We are then led through a journey of discovery. We travel across continents, revisiting a past that once existed, a past remembered fondly and with a mild regret. The language is easy to read and the story flows smoothly. The story devolves away from the initial statement about our sense of smell and its role in our nostalgic moments. We are taken away to a story of a successful entrepreneur using a written account of the past into a successful business. There were small anecdotes that did nothing for the story, leaving us with a loose sense of loss at what could have been a compelling exploration.
Smells do have that weird ability to transport us into a reverie. The half remembered past, pushed into our subconscious, is for that brief moment pushed out into the forefront.
I’m pretty sure you will agree with me.
