Daniels come to judgement!
We're a judgemental lot, we are. I'm no sociologist, and far too lazy to research it, but it may be that making judgements is at the root of homo sapien's instinct for survival. In the modern era, with the interweb weaving it's magical tendrils all around us and enabling snappy judgements, we are…
My experience with Social Media in 2015
2015 was the year I invested in a "social presence". Here is my honest review and my responses to the current state. Facebook provides the bulk of my traffic, followed by Wordpress. Facebook has destroyed the concept of Friend and totally diminished and warped the meaning of the word "like".I received connection requests…
The Play
As usual, The LastWord has applied to The SloMan to write a post to Make an Announcement.
The SloMan, slow and infirm as he is, is obliged to oblige The LastWord, mostly because he, The LastWord, has obliged The SloMan by taking over the bulk of writings that this blog is obliged to present to its readers. Few they may be, but a blog cannot exist without some obligor / obligee relationships between writers and readers.

The Second Irregular SloWord Awards
OK, 2015 has now been consigned to history. 2016 shall prove historic, too. For the US, which means, of course, the World. 5 Great Passages
Well, 2015 is almost over and it is time to take a look back. I decided to dig through and collect some quotes. The best of the best. From this blog, of course. Didn't you know? I'm modest to a fault. It's probably my greatest virtue, modesty is. uh... one other thing... I…
A Week of Achievements

Punjabi in Paris – Walking Woes
I'd known about the walking bit. In fact, I'd gone out of my way to buy some comfortable walking shoes. But, as the poet Burns said, the best laid plans of mice and men gang aft agley. It was entirely my fault and the fault of my map-reading skills. Apparently, I'd forgotten a…
The Chennai Conflict – 2
My stay in Chennai was not a very happy one. I was already well-short of being gruntled. ( see history in Part 1 ) I found the ultra-conservative nature of the locals disconcerting. Every light switch, every fan, fan regulator, every keyboard, monitor and tape was (more…)
Photographs
You may know that I live in the general vicinity of The Great Lakes. A weekend trip to the shores of Lake Huron gave me the chance to try out different settings on the camera. I get the basic idea on f-numbers and aperture settings but do not have a natural instinct for…
